Covid 19: How to have a safe photo session in the age of Omicron
Information about Covid 19: How to have a safe photo session in the age of Omicron
A Safer Photo Session
Covid-19, and the latest Omicron surge, have turned our world upside down. As a parent of two children and a newborn photographer in Los Angeles, I’ve taken Covid-19 seriously from day one.
For newborn photographers safety is always front of mind. I’ve always kept my studio clean and disinfected and made sure that I am up to date on all recommended vaccines – including Flu, Tdap (Whooping Cough), and MMR.
Over the last two years, I’ve added additional layers of protection to safeguard myself, my family, and my clients from Covid-19.
I am fully vaccinated
I am thankful to say that I have received 3 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine. Additionally, every member of my household – including my two children – is fully vaccinated.
I work with newborns and young children, who are too young to receive the vaccine, and am grateful that I can protect myself AND those around me by being vaccinated.
I wear a mask
For our family masks are now a way of life. We all wear a mask when we are indoors in public spaces. During sessions, I wear a certified N95 or KN94 mask.
During this latest Omicron surge I have returned to wearing the gold standard NIOSH approved N95 mask.
I keep the studio clean
Some of my Covid-19 protocols are simply the continuation of safe studio practices. As always, I practice careful hand hygiene, launder all blankets and wraps in hot water and detergent between sessions, and disinfect my studio and equipment.
I’ve been extra vigilant during the pandemic and now take additional precautions. For example, I try to avoid scheduling more than one studio session per day. If I must, I make sure to schedule my sessions with ample time in between for cleaning and airing out the studio.
I test before every indoor session
During the Omicron surge I have committed to taking a rapid Covid test before EVERY indoor session. This gives me and my clients added peace of mind. I will continue this practice as long as community transmission is high and tests are available.
I communicate with my clients
Keeping ourselves and our children safe during the Covid-19 pandemic is a communal effort. If you have any questions or concerns regarding Covid-19 and your session, I urge you to reach out.
I am proud that I have safely navigated the pandemic for the past two years and am grateful that I have the tools at my disposal to create a safer session experience for my clients.
Have a question? Ready to book your session? I look forward to hearing from you!
